Uganda Cranes deputy skipper Khalid Aucho and his side Young Africans SC fell 2-1 to USM Alger in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup final.

The Tanzanians fell on home turf on Sunday at the hands of the Algerian outfit, thanks to Aymen Mahious and Islam Merilli.

Yanga laser-sharp forward Fiston Mayele netted the consolation, to give them a lifeline ahead of the second leg in a week.

Aucho, who is a mainstay in the team and was integral in reaching the final, didn’t feature due to suspension.

He will miss the second leg as well over the same. It is a match that has put the club on the verge of making history, as the first East African country to win a continental championship.

According to reports, Aucho and his teammates will take home a huge Ugx 1B from their Investor Ghalib Said Mohamed, should they clinch the title.

To reach the final, Yanga eliminated Cranes goalkeeper Ismail Watenga’s Marumo Gallants after a 4-1 aggregate. Aucho featured in both matches.
