The 2025 Kagame Cup will take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from September 2 to 15, CECAFA has confirmed.

Twelve teams will compete, including Tanzanian giants Simba SC and Young Africans SC. A guest team from outside the CECAFA region will also feature, rounding out the lineup.

“This year’s tournament will be more competitive, with clubs using it to prepare for the upcoming CAF season,” said CECAFA Executive Director Auka Gecheo on Tuesday.

The Kagame Cup, named after Rwandan President Paul Kagame, is a key pre-season event for East and Central African clubs.

Last year’s champions, Red Arrows of Zambia, won’t return this time as the tournament sticks to CECAFA zone teams.

• El Merriekh SC Bentiu (South Sudan)

• Mlandege SC (Zanzibar)

• Al Hilal (Sudan)

• Kenya Police FC (Kenya)

• Ethiopia Insurance (Ethiopia)
