CECAFA Kagame Cup 2025: Tournament heads to Dar es Salaam with 12 teams set

The 2025 Kagame Cup will take place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from September 2 to 15, CECAFA has confirmed.

Twelve teams will compete, including Tanzanian giants Simba SC and Young Africans SC. A guest team from outside the CECAFA region will also feature, rounding out the lineup.

ā€œThis year’s tournament will be more competitive, with clubs using it to prepare for the upcoming CAF season,ā€ said CECAFA Executive Director Auka Gecheo on Tuesday.

The Kagame Cup, named after Rwandan President Paul Kagame, is a key pre-season event for East and Central African clubs. 

Last year’s champions, Red Arrows of Zambia, won’t return this time as the tournament sticks to CECAFA zone teams.
