Seven-time Uganda Basketball League champions City Oilers showcased high levels of resilience as they came from behind to beat UCU Canons on Friday night.

The 71-54 result at Lugogo Indoor Arena meant it was the second loss for UCU as the Oilers ascended top of the log, to start the second round on a high.

However, Nicholas Natuhereza’s UCU were hard-done by a poor display in the third and fourth quarters, as they squandered a 12 points halftime lead.

Oilers upped their game in the third quarter with a 11-4 run to reduce the deficit to five points that later turned into a spectacular turnaround, winning by 17 points.

Oilers’ Tonny Drilleba was the star of the show as he hit 21 points. Guard Jimmy Enabu managed 14 to his name.

New recruit Francis Azolibe was handed his debut on the second coming and hit ten points in the first quarter.

For UCU, Peter Sifuna and Fadhil Chuma relatively impressed with 16 and 12 points respectively.
