National Insurance Corporation netball club’s shooter Stella Oyella has stiff competition in Prison’s Jessica Achan for the May Fortebet Real Stars Awards gong.
Oyella guided NIC to the 2022 East African Netball title and was a key pillar thoughout the tournament as they went on to avoid defeat.
For more context, Oyella finished top on the scoring charts with 244 goals. The closest rival was Christine Namulumba (218) from Prisons.
Meanwhile, Prison’s Achan the MVP for East Africa Netball championship thanks to her game reading and ball distribution in the center.
The other nominee is KCCA’s Shafie Nalwanja who helped her side reach the finals of the East Africa Netball championship after defeating Prisons in the semifinals.
Away from netball, other sport disciplines such as Cricket and Football also have their nominees’ lists out.
Aziz Damani’s Simon Ssesazzi, Janet Mbabazi (Victoria Pearls) and Kevin Awino (Victoria Pearls) have been nominated under Cricket.
Fazilah Ikwaput (Lady Doves), Hasifa Nassuna (UCU Lady Cardinals) and Bobosi Byaruhanga (Vipers SC) are in the football category nominees.
