For the first time in two years, the sound of netball action will echo through Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo as the Uganda Netball Super League resumes this Saturday, April 5, 2025.
After a period of uncertainty, controversies, and shifting player careers, the league is back stronger, restructured and ready to reignite the passion of netball fans across the country.
The last time the Super League graced the court was on April 29, 2023 when Prisons Netball Club lifted the championship trophy.
However, what followed was a turbulent phase for Ugandan netball. The then-president, Sarah Babirye Kityo faced suspension, leading to World Netball stepping in with a Normalisation Committee to stabilize the federation.
During this pause, some players found opportunities abroad, some permanently, while others opted for temporary contracts. A few even transitioned to basketball, seeking competition and stability.
Now, the wait is over. The league’s first round will run until July 2025 and all matches will take place at Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo. For some players, this marks a return to the sport they love, while for others, it is an opportunity for a fresh start.
The much-anticipated restart will feature thrilling Division One matches:
- UCU Vs Dynamite Netball Academy – 11 AM
- UPDF Vs UGISA – 1 PM
- KCCA Vs NIC – 3 PM
