FUFA Women Super League champions She Corporate FC were beaten 2-0 by Tanzania’s Simba Queens on Wednesday at the ongoing 2022 CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers in the CECAFA zone.

This came after a 6-0 victory over South Sudan side Yei Joint Stars in their opening game four days back.

Defeat to Simba denied them an early place in the semifinals after two games but, they will advance if they win their last group game against GRFC, and coach Charles Ayiekho is optimistic.

“We started well but failed to maintain the control against a team that grew in confidence,” Ayiekoh was quoted by CAF after the game against Simba.

“But we shall work hard and make sure we win our last group match to qualify for the semifinals, and with belief, we are going to make it.

Uganda’s representatives will take on GRFC from Burundi on Saturday and victory will see She Corporate reach the last four.

As far as Group B standings are concerned, Simba leads the proceedings with six points, She Corporate and Yei Joint Stars are tied on three, while GRFC are pointless at the bottom.

GRFC will be playing for formality given that they can not progress having lost their opening two games.
