Crested Cranes goalkeeper Daphine Nyayenga has extended her contract with She Corporate FC for another year.
The talented custodian was reportedly being courted by new FUFA Women Super League entrants She Maroons, but she has opted to stay with the Sharks.
The goalkeeper, who joined the Sharks from Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC in 2022, helped She Corporate FC to lift their maiden FUFA Women Super League title in 2021/22 season.
Nyayenga was also named the best goalkeeper of that season, where she managed to keep 12 clean sheets in 16 games.
The teenager was also part of Lady Doves squad that won the bronze medal in the 2021 inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal Qualifiers that was held in Kenya.
Nyayenga rose to scene in 2019 when she helped the Uganda U-17 Women National Team to win the COSAFA and CECAFA titles in Mauritius and Uganda respectively. And she was named the best goalkeeper.
In 2021, Nyayenga was also named the best goalkeeper in the CECAFA U-20 Women’s Championship when Uganda finished second behind Ethiopia.
Nyayenga has previously played for Kakungulu Memorial, Rines SS, Uganda Martyrs, Lady Doves and She Corporate FC.
The goalkeeper’s decision to stay with She Corporate FC is a major boost for the club, who are looking to bounce back from relegation to the FUFA Women Elite League last season.
