Star player and skipper Phionah Nabbumba’s late freekick against Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) ensured She Corporate stormed to the first ever final of the CECAFA Women’s CAF Champions League qualifiers with a 2-1 victory.
On the evening, it is She Corporate who came up with the opener through a well taken Anita Namata goal in the 20th minute.
However, CBE equalized through top-scorer Loza Abera (ten goals) with an hour played.
That did not last so long though, as Nabbumba restored Corporates’ lead through a sumptuous freekick in the 73rd minute.
After hitting the final, they will take on Simba Queens who thumped Rwanda’s AS Kigali 5-1 in the second semi-final. The two finalists met earlier during the group stages with Simba Queens emerging 2-0 victors.
CECAFA region only has one slot for qualification to the coveted CAF Women’s Champions League. Mamelodi Sundowns are the maiden Champions.
