Fauzia Najjemba yet again showed her might, as the Crested Cranes defeated Tanzania 3-1 in an international friendly played on Friday at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

The former Kampala Queens star was magic-filled with quick feet, always adventurous and creative, proving a menace to the guests’ backline for 90 minutes.

Now at Russian side Dynamo Moscow in the topflight, Najjemba put up reminders why she trades in an elite league in Europe.

Her first direct goal involvement in the 31st minute, was a thing of beauty, as she drove the ball for over 20 yards, dribbled past two opponents before setting up Catherine Nagadya with her weaker foot, for the equalizer.

She then scored her own goal in the second half, tapping in on the rebound after after the Tanzania goalkeeper Hasnat Ubamba failed to deal with Samalie Nakacwa’s long cross.

That was only a tip of the iceberg for an absolutely stunning second half where she put the backline to concrete pressure, albeit, coming from the left.

Meanwhile, Uganda’s third was a worldie of sorts from substitute Margaret Kunihira, whose cross-shot from the right hit the roof of the net in the 88th minute.

The win is a boost for Uganda ahead of next week’s 2024 Olympic qualifier game against Rwanda that will be played on Wednesday 12th July 2023 at Kigali Pele Stadium.
