“Uganda Cranes Head Coach Paul Joseph Put has appointed Sam Ssimbwa as his assistant. FUFA has duly accepted the above appointment and coach Ssimbwa starts his role with immediate effect.”

“The other Ugandan officials who will serve as part of the backroom staff shall be announced in due course.”

Sven De Wilde (Performance Manager), Mathieu Denis (Physical Fitness coach), Gery Osste (Goalkeeping Coach), Martin Michiel (Physiotherapist), and Jelle Sevenhant (Video analyst) will be among the other members of the technical team.

Put, a 67-year-old who took over from Milutin Sredojević, vowed to live up to the challenge.

“I’d like to start by thanking FUFA for their trust and confidence in giving me this position,” he began.

“I believe that my knowledge of African football will help me perform a good job with the Uganda Cranes.”

“I’ve been keeping an eye on the Uganda Cranes, particularly the recent AFCON Qualifier match against Niger and the two friendly games against Mali and Zambia. Please give me time and trust me. You’ll see a different national team.”

FUFA President Moses Magogo stated that Put was the best candidate for the position out of the many who applied.

“FUFA started an application process and we received over 150 applications, including two from Ugandans. The FUFA Executive narrowed down the field to Mr. Put Paul Joseph after careful consideration. We believe he will do a good job,” he stated.
