Fahad Mutagana will lead a team of 14 Baby Cricket Cranes players at the ICC U-19 Men’s World Cup Africa Qualifiers, which will be held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from July 23-29.

Mutagana, who captained the side during the Indian Tour in May, has been entrusted with steering the team as Uganda seeks to qualify for the U19 World Cup for the fourth time.

The Baby Cricket Cranes will be without one of their all-rounders, Christopher Kidega, who is injured.

Peter Ochen was also part of the team that went to India, but he has not been included in the squad for the qualifiers.

However, Joseph Baguma and Pius Oloka are back in the team after being included in the Cricket Cranes squad for the Bilateral Castle Lite Series in Namibia.

The Baby Cricket Cranes entered residential camp in Entebbe on Monday as they prepare for the qualifiers, which will also feature Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Namibia, Kenya, and hosts Tanzania.

Uganda has played at the U19 World Cup three times (in 2004, 2006, and 2022), and they will be hoping to best everyone in Tanzania as they look to secure their ticket to Sri Lanka, where the main showpiece will take place next year.

Uganda will bowl off the tournament against Namibia on Saturday, July 22 at the Dar Gymkhana Grounds in Dar es Salaam.
