Uganda Rugby Cranes Head Coach, Fred Mudoola, on Sunday evening named the uncapped Wandera Brian as part of the 28-man squad to represent the country in the 2024 edition of the Rugby Africa Cup.

The Lifeguard Rams enforcer has had the chance to represent the country before as he was part of the U20 Class of 2022. He is joined in the squad by Africa 7s Champions Timothy Kisiga, Alex Aturinda, and Phillip Wokorach who have also been named as part of the squad that will play at Mandela National Stadium and Wankulukuku, fresh off their conquests in Mauritania.

What coach Mudoola and captain Magomu said

“The coaching group has looked hard at on-field performances and selecting a squad of 28 from the larger pool was tough because all these guys have worked their bodies off,” said Coach Mudoola Fred.

“I am confident in the 28 we have selected today. We have put in the work and we know it will be tough seeing as every nation has been taking this seriously. It sets a good precedent for the competition but we are ready for them.”

“We shall definitely enjoy the home support and weather and have to capitalize on that,” remarked Captain Ivan Magomu on the prospect of playing in front of home fans throughout the entire tournament.

Owing to the nature of the tournament, the team was allowed seven players to have on the ready should the need arise.
