It’s almost a year since the senior women’s National team, the Crested Cranes, last had a Head Coach.

To be more specific, it was last year in July when they were knocked out in the group stages of AWCON in Morocco.

Coach George Lutalo left his Crested Cranes coaching role to join Wasswa Bbosa at Gaddafi FC and later Kitara FC.

According to information from the Federation of Uganda Football Associations, all is set for Coach Charles Ayieko to fill the void.

Ayieko is expected to immediately summon the Crested Cranes squad ahead of CAF Women’s Olympic qualifiers if appointed.

At the end of the last month, Uganda was drawn while Rwanda was in the CAF Women’s Olympic qualifier.

The two will meet between the 10th and 18th of July this year on a home and away basis and the winner on aggregate will face Cameroon.

The tactician guided She Corporate FC to finish second in the CAF Women’s Champions League Zonal qualifiers, losing 1-0 to Simba Queens last year.

In August last year, Ayieko joined Simba Queens and guided them to reach the semifinals of the CAF Women’s Champions League.

The CAF A gaffer failed to win the league this season with Tanzanian Giants Simba Queens putting his stay in doubt.

Ayieko has previously coached at Bunamwaya (now Vipers SC), Police FC, Nyamityobora, Soana, Kirinya Jinja S.S (now Busoga United), MYDA FC, She Corporate FC and Simba Queens, among others.
