The FUFA Women’s Super League witnessed a surprising turn of events on matchday 16, with top dogs Kawempe Muslim faltering against Wakiso Hill. This loss throws the title race wide open, with Kampala Queens lurking close behind.

Wakiso Hill Shocks Kawempe

In a thrilling encounter at Kitende, Wakiso Hill stunned league leaders Kawempe Muslim with a narrow 2-1 victory. Defender Fatuma Nakasumba opened the scoring with a spectacular free-kick, while Zaitun Namaganda and Rashidah Nankya combined for Wakiso’s second goal.

Kawempe managed a reply through Hadijah Nandago, but it wasn’t enough to salvage a point.

This win lifts Wakiso Hill to 18 points, moving them further away from the relegation zone. Kawempe, despite the loss, maintain their top spot with 34 points, but Kampala Queens, who are just 7 points behind with two games in hand, are breathing down their necks.

Uganda Martyrs Deepen UCU’s Woes

UCU Lady Cardinals faced further disappointment as they were defeated 1-2 by Uganda Martyrs Lubaga WFC on their home turf.

A brace from Latifah Nakasi secured the win for Uganda Martyrs, who climb to third place in the table with 24 points. On the other hand, Jovia Nakagolo netted a late consolation for UCU who remain in the relegation zone with a mere 14 points.

Rines Claim Double Victory over Asubo

Rines SS WFC completed a dominant season series against Asubo Ladies FC with a hard-fought 1-0 victory. Catherine Wujja’s first-half strike proved decisive, pushing Rines to fifth place with 20 points.

Asubo remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just 10 points, their fight for survival becoming increasingly precarious.
