Hamz Stadium management delighted with CHAN Qualifiers hosting rights

The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) announced Hamz Stadium Nakivubo as the hosting Venue for Uganda-Burundi double header in CHAN Qualifiers.

Hours after the announcement, Ham’z Stadium Nakivubo management held a press conference on Thursday at the stadium to confirm and show gratitude for reaching the milestone.

This shall come as the first senior international matches to be played at the stadium since the renovation process.

The games are scheduled to take place on the 26th and 29th of December 2024 when Burundi and Uganda shall host the respective legs.

In the matches, Burundi targeting a slot at the Championship of African Nations 2025 which shall be hosted in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

On the return to international seen, Hamz Stadium Nakivubo will have only 7,000 fans in the stands which stays but it didn’t stop the stadium management from considering it as a milestone according to to Chairman Rogers Mulindwa.

“It is a pleasure to have this exciting news from CAF. Ham’z Stadium was allowed to host CHAN qualifying games between Uganda and Burundi.

“Returning to host international matches has been one of our targets, now it has joined accomplished targets.

Being the first CAF match, we were granted to have only 7000 fans in those games and we are looking to comply with the directives from CAF.”

As the serving chairperson Mulindwa also commented on his achievements from his appointment made by Hamis Kiggundu.

“Taking over this role I promised Hajj to see this stadium hosting League games, now we have two teams Express FC and URA FC and they are performing highly in the top ten of the league table.

“Also in our first 6 months, we have received clearance for our turf from both CAF and FIFA. Now we are hosting CECAFA U17 and then CHAN QUALIFIER Matches, all were part of my targets and we are around 80% on the target set for the first year”
