A wild final day of the Ndejje League gave birth to a new champion in Hibary Ruffians. The 2014 class of Ndejje Secondary School won their last game of the day 3-1 to clinch the title on 35 points.

Going into the encounter with the Cadets, in second position and a point below Legends who had a superior goal advantage as well, Ruffians had one option, a win.

Fretfulness was all over their faces hence conceding first as Frank Zaga found the back of the net for the Cadets. This somehow cooled down their nerves thus equalizing under a minute through Michael Nsimbe.

Daillo Uromucham scored the second for the Ruffians to give them a 2-1 halftime lead. At this moment, they couldn’t afford any slip hence pushing for the killer.

In the second half, Phionah Kabugyeya scored the third for Hibary to give them a two points lead on the top of the table.

At this juncture, the game between Legends and Farmers had just started hence all eyes glued to on pitch. With Hibary players and fans cheering on the party spoilers in Farmers, Legends tranquility was low.

This was evident throughout hence losing the encounter 0-1. They conceded in the first half but failed to equalize and as time went by, tempers were boiling.

A disallowed Legends goal gave birth to chaos as players, fans attacked the referee a thing that saw the game halted for over five minutes.

The referee’s whistle had already gone following a foul on the keeper before Legends put the ball in the back of the net.

The goal posts were removed by fans as officials and Hibary players ran onto the pitch to shield the referee from the heated group who had resorted to shoving the referee.

After the commotion, the game resumed but the result didn’t change hence Ruffians racing to the pitch in wild jubilations.

Away from the counted and canceled goals, the day had a huge crowd at Kings Park Arena Bweyogerere.

The days’ guest of honour was the current Head Teacher of Ndejje SS Dr. Charles Kahigiriza who applauded the idea of having Old Students together and pledged to support Ndejje League in any way possible.

Back to Old Students, optical nutrition (yes, females dressed to kill) was in plenty at the venue and the big boys had no option but to dig deep into their pockets.

The chill off the green had a poor man’s version of a food court with bites such as pork muchomo, chicken, goats’ meat, pilawo, kigere not forgetting the rolex, soft and hard drinks were punished thoroughly.

The team behind the league which produced goals, fan and so on is led by Moses Isagara who thanks his committee, the teams that participated plus promising a better league come next season.

Team Abu Dhabi, class of 2013 produced the top scorer in Isaac Ofor who netted 19 times to take the golden boot home. Close to him was Knights’ Duncan Muhame with 17 goals.

Still in line with the prizes, both Legends and Hibary picked medals and trophies as a token to their efforts.
