Team Uganda has three medal opportunities in the ongoing Uganda International Badminton Juniors championship at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
The All Africa Badminton Senior Championship gold medalist Fadilah Shamika Mohammed (women’s singles) and Abed Bukenya (men’s singles) secured semifinal slots today.
To enter the medal bracket, Fadilah Shamika Mohammed beat Mysha Omer Khan from UAE (21-11,21-12) while Abed Bukenya defeated Vaishnav Russeean from Mauritius (21-8,21-19).
With straight sets performances from both, the focus is now on gold, and wins from tomorrow’s action will see them enter the finals.
Away from the singles action, in the men’s double, Uganda is also in the medal bracket after a close victory for Guna Kusal Dhulupudi and Reagan Michael Nsubuga.
The duo won a quarter-final game against Mauritius’ Nyanesh Anand Changea and Rajhans Rai Nundah, Uganda won (21-18,21-17).
