International University of East Africa (IUEA) will be in search of their first win of the season when they take on St. Lawrence University on Friday at Kansanga.
IUEA had their celebrations in their previous game cut short after they conceded a late equalizer against Gulu to settle for a 1-1 draw.
However, their coach and former Uganda Cranes player Hassan Wasswa is hopeful they will do better this time.
“St. Lawrence are a strong team,” Wasswa said.
“They have made it to the finals for two consecutive seasons and have produced many fantastic talents like Kasule Ibrahim and Sematimba Titus.
“So they are a good team and they score a lot of goals as they did against Nkumba but I know we can get a result against them.”
St. Lawrence have been a threat in the final third and it will be very hard for IUEA to stop them, but Wasswa believes they have the potential to do it.
“We have been working on our defensive organization and we are confident that we can withstand their attack,” Wasswa said.
“We also have some good attacking players of our own, so I am hopeful that we can get a goal or two.”
St. Lawrence, who beat Nkumba 3-1 in their opening game, will be seeking to extend their winning run, according to their coach Lawrence Nnono.
“As a team we are comfortable,” Nnono said.
“The boys know what they need to do. We cannot take IUEA for granted, especially now that they have an experienced international as their coach, but we are confident and I know we shall get the result.”
