The JT Jaguars ended their regular season in style, rallying from behind to beat the already relegated KIU Titans 70-54 and secure second place.
Down 48-52 going into the final quarter, they exploded with a dominant finish, outscoring the Titans by 22 points to set up a playoff showdown with defending champions City Oilers.
The Oilers had a shaky regular season, finishing seventh at 12-10, but still boast a dangerous roster with Canadian star Chad Bowie and Central African standout Kurt-Curry Axel Wegscheider.
The Jaguars, however, carry confidence, having beaten the ten-time champions twice this year (74-64 and 65-50).
Captain Victor Bwana reflected on their rise:
“It’s been a big learning experience. Last year we finished seventh, now we’re second. That’s growth. The Oilers are veterans, but this match-up will help us grow even more. To our fans, thank you for standing by us through the lows. Your support means everything.”
In the women’s league, the JT Lady Jaguars closed with a 16-4 record for third place, earning a quarterfinal against the sixth-seeded Miracle Eaglets. The playoffs follow a 1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5 format with best-of-three series.
Captain Sarah Ageno is upbeat:
“We’ve ended the season on a high. Our shooting is sharp, and expectations for the playoffs are high. The last season game against Nabisunsa was a good test, it’s prepared us well.”
Both teams are led by coach Sudi Ulanga, guiding them into a playoffs full of promise, pressure, and the chance to turn strong seasons into championship runs.
