Kampala to Host the Prestigious M25 Tennis Tournament

Kampala Club is set to host the much-anticipated M25 Tennis Tournament, an international event showcasing top talent from across the globe.

Organized under the auspices of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) and Uganda Tennis Association (UTA), this high-level competition promises to be an exciting opportunity for athletes and tennis enthusiasts alike.

The event will run from 6th October 2024 to 13th October 2024 to be followed by an M15 event that will begin on 14th October and end on 20th October 2024 at Kampala Club.

The tournaments bring together professional players from around the world as they compete for vital ATP ranking points and a total prize pool of $25,000 and $15,000 respectively.

The tournaments also offer a platform for emerging local and regional players to test their skills against seasoned professionals; there will be wild card shared across the region with Kenyan, Rwandan and Ugandan Davis Cup players enjoying the privilege; the ITF Men’s World Tennis Tour was last held in May, 2019 at Lugogo Tennis Complex.

The partners who have made this event possible include; National Council Of Sports, Jibu Water and our designated hotels for the event; Fairway Boutique Hotel, The Choate Boutique Hotel and Explorer’s Hub Hotel.

The M25 Tennis event will be officiated by an esteemed group of certified umpires and referees from across Africa. Leading the officiating team is Mxolisi Matyolo from South Africa, who will serve as the tournament’s referee.

The participation of international and local officials underscores the tournament’s importance and the participation of Ugandan umpires- a team that includes two white badges (Charles Wanyama & Maria Gorreti Nayiga) and three national officials demonstrates the nation’s growing capacity to host world-class tennis events.

The M25 Qualifiers will begin on Sunday 6th October 2024 and end on Monday 7th October 2024; the main draw will begins on Tuesday 8th October 2025 and the M15 will run the following week ending on 20th October 2024.

Venue:

The M25 Tennis Tournament will be held at the Kampala Club with the courts undergoing an upgrade to host the event.

About the M25 & M15 Tournaments:

The M25 and M15 events are part of the ITF World Tennis Tour, which provides opportunities for players to earn points and qualify for ATP Tour events. It is designed to help bridge the gap between junior tournaments and the professional circuit, making it an essential stepping stone for aspiring tennis players.
