Kampala Queens‘ dream of winning this season’s FUFA Women Super League with an unbeaten run is no more.
The champions in waiting lost to Kawempe Muslim 1-0 away from home in a tight contest.
The valley warriors lost the first leg 0-1 following a controversial penalty but, the school girls have revenged in style.
Kampala Queens were the better side in the first stanza of the game but it ended in a goalless draw.
In the eighth minute of the second half, Queens goalkeeper Gloria Namakula failed to gather Rhoda Nanziri‘s cross allowing Agnes Nabukenya to find the back of the net off a rebound.
The hosts nearly scored the second but Hadijah Nandago‘s header was excellently saved by goalkeeper Namakula.
The visitors pushed for an equalizer but goalkeeper Juliet Adeke had an excellent day in office.
Kampala Queens had last lost a League game last year on 9th February when Kawempe Muslim beat them 0-2 in Kabojja.
After the game, Kawempe Muslim’s assistant Coach Moses Nkata praised his team for the good display.
“As we expected, it has been a tough game. We failed to stick to our game and that’s why we almost conceded in the first half.”
“We have amazing young girls capable of doing wonders and we’re looking forward to winning more games.”
