KCCA FC and Vipers SC, two of the most successful clubs in Ugandan football, will face off on Friday, November 10, 2023, with contrasting ambitions.
KCCA have had a poor start to the league, winless from their first six games. They will be looking to build on the draw against Arua Hill last time out to get their first win of the season against Vipers, who are unbeaten in their opening six matches.
KCCA preparations
The Lugogo side will welcome back captain Julius Poloto, who has been out injured. However, Emilson Gonzaga and Herbert Achai will remain unavailable due to injury.
Interim coach Jackson Magera has called on his players to live up to expectations.
“We know Vipers are a good team and have been playing well,” he said.
“But we also feel we have tried to rectify our mistakes and now we are good to go. The point we picked against Arua Hill motivated us to perform to our best.”
“We know the game won’t be easy but if we can battle for the points, we can get a positive result.”
Vipers preparations
Vipers have come out to reveal that former KCCA player Allan Okello, who returned to training this week, has a chance to feature in the game. However, he will need to pass a late fitness test in order to be considered.
Coach Leonard Neiva believes they have prepared the team very well.
“We have tried to address all challenges,” he said.
“We are away and we have to be set for a tough encounter. KCCA have not been performing well but that doesn’t mean it will be an easy game for us. We have to be at our best if we want to get a result.”
In other matches, Uganda Cranes legend David Obua will be in charge of his first game at URA FC when they host second placed Kitara, while Soltilo Bright Stars will battle Busoga United at Kavumba.
