As the countdown to the much-anticipated Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally 2025 continues, three top Kenyan rally crews have confirmed their participation, setting the stage for an intense showdown in Mbarara.

Scheduled for 9th to 11th May, the event marks the second round of the FIA African Rally Championship (ARC), following the WRC Safari Rally in Kenya.

The Pearl of Africa Rally is renowned for its scenic yet challenging terrain that puts both driver skill and vehicle endurance to the test. This year’s edition is expected to draw elite competition from across East Africa, with Kenyan crews leading a strong international charge.

Headlining the Kenyan lineup are Karan Patel and Tauseef Khan, the reigning African Rally Champions and defending Pearl of Africa Rally winners. Returning in their Skoda Fabia R5, Patel and Khan are aiming for a strong comeback following their retirement at the recent Safari Rally in Kenya due to difficulties at the Camp Moran stage. With their experience and proven pace, they will be among the top contenders in Uganda.

Joining them are Jasmeet and Ravi Chana, the 2023 Kenya National Rally Champions, who are set to make their Pearl Rally debut in a Ford Fiesta R5. Despite being newcomers to Uganda’s rally stages, the Chana brothers bring a wealth of rallying experience and are determined to score their first ARC points of the season. Their consistent performances in the Kenyan championship have positioned them as a team to watch.

Also making their international debut are the 2024 Kenya National Rally Champions, Samman Vohra and Alfir Khan, driving another Skoda Fabia R5. The young duo has shown impressive form on home soil and will be looking to translate their domestic success onto the continental stage. With their aggressive driving style and focus, they could become a surprise factor in this year’s ARC season.

With entries officially opened on April 10th and closing on April 25th, more competitors are expected to join the lineup, promising a high-stakes rally featuring both national and international talent. As preparations intensify, pace notes are being fine-tuned and mechanical setups optimised ahead of what promises to be one of the most competitive events on the ARC calendar.

The Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally 2025 is poised to deliver thrilling action as Africa’s best rally crews converge in Mbarara for championship points, national pride, and motorsport glory.
