Kenya’s own Speed Sultan, Hamza Anwar, and his partner-in-crime Adnan Din have officially RSVP’d with a loud ‘Yes, we’re coming to cause chaos’ for the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally.

Set to fire off in Mbarara from 9th to 11th May 2025, their arrival bumps the Kenyan crew count to four, one more and we’ll have to rename it the Safari Rally (Mbarara Edition)!

This duo Hamza Anwar and Adnan “Please Slow Down!” Din—left quite the skid mark on our memories in last year’s rally, bagging an impressive 3rd place overall in their Ford Fiesta R5, right behind Uganda’s rally royalty, Jas Mangat. But this year? Oh, they’re switching things up like a plot twist in a Nigerian movie. They’re rolling in hot with a Mitsubishi Evo X, fully loaded and ready to misbehave, as they chase their first ever points in the Africa Rally Championship (ARC).

Speaking on their return, Anwar expressed confidence in the team’s preparation and eagerness to improve on their 2024 performance. “We had a good outing last year and learned a lot from the terrain and conditions. With the Mitsubishi Evo X, we are hoping to be even more competitive and pick up crucial ARC points early in the season,” he said.

The Pearl of Africa Rally remains one of the most anticipated rounds on the African motorsport calendar and is a key fixture in the ARC. With its nice gravel stages and unpredictable weather, it promises to test both man and machine to the limit.

Organized under the watchful eye of the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) and blessed by the almighty FIA themselves, the Pearl of Africa Rally is revving up to become a continental showdown of epic proportions.

With top drivers flying in from every corner of Africa, some bringing speed, others bringing drama, it’s shaping up to be one of the most competitive editions yet. Basically, it’s like the AFCON of rallying, except instead of goals, you get gear shifts, flying gravel, and drivers praying their turbo doesn’t quit mid-corner.

All eyes will be on Mbarara as fans and stakeholders gear up for another thrilling chapter in Uganda’s motorsport journey.
