KIU Titans’ supremacy over the UPDF Tomahawks has been extremely loud in the recent past. The university side will be hoping to keep the trend, when the two lock horns in the National Basketball League today evening at Lugogo Indoor Arena.
All the four previous meetings between the two sides have gone KIU’s way, including the victory in this season’s first round where they won 63-54.
In the cancelled 2021 season (called off due to Covid-19 restrictions), where they played just once, the Titans came out on top with an impressive 85-62 victory.
The same had happened in their two previous meetings in 2018, where KIU won both, 100-57 and 102-72 in the first and second round respectively. That season, UPDF were relegated.
On the other hand, the army side will be looking forward to ending this pre-eminence, and certainly guarantee a better show, given their recent form.
In the last five games, they have managed to win four, including an absolutely commanding victory over the now-relegated Falcons (126-48).
Besides, UPDF and KIU hold similar numbers in terms of wins and losses this season. After 21 games, both have won 13 games and lost eight times.
One of the two is expected to join Nam Blazers, UCU Canons and the City Oilers for the playoffs, as each of the trio looks certain for a spot.
This will without a doubt make today’s clash even tastier!
