KOBs defeated Plascon Mongers in the Tooro 7s finale on Sunday to defend their title.
Owing to the win, KOBs have now passed Pirates to climb to the top of the table with 4 stops of the 7 editions of the 2023 National 7s calendar now chalked off.
Day 1 ended with a glitch for the Blue Army, losing to Rams, and setting a mouthwatering quarterfinals clash with rivals Pirates.
Joseph Aredo turned up in different gravy on day 2, making easy work of the Pirates and inspiring his side to a 17-05 win, and setting a date with the Hippos in the semis.
Karim Arinaitwe was unplayable in this one, taking notes from the seniors to tear the Hippos apart, and helping the KOBs win 19-05, setting a final against Mongers.
For their first final appearance in 2023, the Mongers didn’t have much resistance for the KOBs, the latter winning 28-00 and Aredo Joseph retaining his Tooro 7s MVP gong.
The Pirates finished in 5th place, with Rujumba 7s winners Heathens settling for 9th.
The Black Pearls have one firm hand on the women’s crown after blitzing through their competition once again – winning a close final 12-05 against Avengers.
