Still unbeaten, Heathens Rugby Club is set to cap their 16th title victory in the most memorable way imaginable; against rivals Kampala Old Boys (KOBs).
Regardless of the outcome in the Jinja road derby, the Kyadondo side will be crowned as the Nile Special Rugby Premiership League 2022 champions.
It has become customary in recent years for the league champions to be applauded out onto the pitch by their opponents, who form a guard of honour in recognition of the champions.
KOBs will host Heathens this Saturday at 4pm.
Opponents are not required to perform the salute but according to KOBs coach, David Kyewalabye, Heathens will get it because it is the right thing to do.
“The rugby fraternity at large needs a noble gesture and we are a club built on integrity. We will give them the guard of honour,” Kyewalabye told Nnalubaale Sports.
Will KOBs choose not to honor their rivals? Only time will tell.
