Kyadondo has indeed been defined as the home of the Heathens after they defeated the Pirates in the final.
Heathens were 19-12 winners at full time thanks to a try from speed merchant Lawrence Sebuliba and a brace from young lad Daniel Malcolm Okello in the second half.
Heathens drew first blood through a bullish run from Lawrence Ssebuliba who majestically completed a 60-yard run with a try between the sticks, which Daniel Malcolm Okello converted.
Pirates weren’t far behind as former Kyadondo boy Stephen ‘Buju’ Alul ran a race of his own to bring the sea robbers onto the score board.
Jones Kamiza‘s excellent boot converted from far out to level the game at Half time.
Daniel Malcolm Okello, in the second half, located a gap in the Pirates setup and took it to push the Heathens back ahead, before converting his own try.
Again, Pirates were back in it, this time through the cornrows killer, Stephen Gongodyo.
A late try in the corner to Daniel Malcolm Okello ensured the Heathens winners and defended their house.
With the Kyadondo 7s victory, Heathens are the first team to win a circuit they’ve hosted this year, and that is their second win of the 2023 National 7s calendar.
Fazira Namukwaya inspired the Avengers to a Kyadondo 7s win against the stubborn Black Pearls, winning 15-00, and sweeping the MVP gong for herself.
The Heathens are now 9 points off the top of the table, and owing to their quarterfinals ejection KOBs have surrendered the lead to the Stanbic Black Pirates.
Owing to his role in the engine room of everything nice that the Heathens have done, Daniel Malcolm Okello was voted Men’s MVP at the Kyadondo 7s.
