Kyambogo University alumni will gather on Saturday, September 9, 2023, for the annual alumni rugby match. The event will be held at the Kyambogo University Rugby Grounds in Banda, Kampala.
“Kyambogo Rugby Club is thrilled to announce the annual alumni rugby match scheduled for 9th September 2023,” read an official statement from the club.
“This event promises a day of nostalgia, camaraderie and electrifying rugby action, bringing together generations of players, enthusiasts and supporters.”

Revellers will be treated to the exploits of their alma mater in competition with other sides, for the coveted Varsity 7s title, after which will be the main serving.
The main course for the day is a 15-a-side match between a select side from the University and the alumni.
Kyambogo University has produced a plethora of rugby stars for the country including Platinum Credit Heathens speedster and reigning National 7s MVP Lawrence Ssebuliba, the loquacious Zeno Othieno Owora, rugby journeyman and current 7s coach for the Heathens Kevin Makmot, Solomon Okia, and former URU President candidate Ivan Semuwemba.
Kyambogo Rugby Club is currently under the tutelage of coach Benedict Ochana who has overseen the team’s participation in the Varsity 7s and the National 7s as an invitational side.
The last time this game was played in October 2019, the alumni defeated the University side in a close 17-15 game.
