The 2020/21 league champions Lady Doves and UCU Lady Cardinals played to a goalless draw in the opening game of the season at UCU Sports ground in Mukono on Saturday morning.
This was the third consecutive time the two sides have shared spoils in league games. Last season, both teams drew 1-1 and 2-2 in Masindi and Mukono respectively.
Coaches’ Reactions
Lady Doves head coach Jessy Lokoki said, “We have got at least a point away from home, UCU was a good team and we had to approach them tactically so that we don’t lose the opening game of the league.”
“We will revise our few mistakes and win the coming games.”
UCU Lady Cardinals head coach Godfrey Magoba said, “We have dropped two vital points at home, it was evident that we miss our former strikers Ashiat Naluggwa and Sharon Nadunga.”
“However, we know they’re no longer here and we’re going to work on our striking line so that we utilize every chance we get in the next games to collect maximum points in each game.”
