Heartbreak at Kitende: Wakiso Hill WFC relegated after crushing defeat

In a season marred by struggle and misfortune, Wakiso Hill WFC’s worst fears were confirmed on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

A devastating 3-0 home loss to She Corporate sealed their relegation from the FUFA Women Super League, sending shockwaves through the club and its loyal supporters.

It was a painful afternoon under the Kitende skies, where dreams faded with every passing minute.

Jesca Namanda was the architect of Wakiso’s downfall, orchestrating a clinical hat-trick that underlined She Corporate’s superiority and Wakiso Hill’s season-long woes.

Namanda wasted no time asserting her dominance, firing She Corporate into the lead in the 27th minute.

Despite brief spells of pressure from Wakiso Hill, including a near equalizer thwarted by a spectacular save from She Corporate’s goalkeeper Molly Naava, the hosts could not find a breakthrough.

The first half ended with Wakiso Hill still clinging to hope, but the second half would ruthlessly extinguish it.

Ten minutes into the restart, Namanda doubled She Corporate’s advantage, finishing off a well-placed cross from Babra Adweru.

Just five minutes later, substitute Rebecca Nakato provided the assist for Namanda’s third, completing a hat-trick that not only silenced the home crowd but mathematically confirmed Wakiso Hill’s relegation with three matches still to play.

With only five points from 19 games, 13 points adrift from safety after Olila’s critical draw against Kampala Queens, Wakiso Hill’s return to the FUFA Women Elite League was sealed.

It was a crushing blow for a side that had entered the league with hope and ambition. But a season plagued by defensive frailties, lack of cutting edge up front and relentless competition proved too much to overcome.

In contrast, Namanda’s heroics propelled her to 10 goals for the season, placing her just one behind current league top scorer Resty Kobusobozi of Lady Doves who netted twice in her own stellar performance against Uganda Martyrs on Sunday.

While Wakiso Hill’s fate was the darkest headline of Matchday 19, the league witnessed other significant developments.

In Masindi, Lady Doves continued their surge, defeating Uganda Martyrs 2-0 thanks to Kobusobozi’s brace.

Meanwhile, reigning champions Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC narrowed the title race gap with Kampala Queens by defeating Tooro Queens 2-0 in Fort Portal, courtesy of Agnes Nabukenya’s double.

Newcomers Amus College WFC also continued to impress, holding onto third place with a 2-1 victory over Makerere University.

However, for Wakiso Hill, the results elsewhere only served as a bitter reminder of what could have been.

Their final matches, starting with a meeting against fellow strugglers Tooro Queens on May 17th, will now be about salvaging pride rather than survival.

The league takes a brief pause for the USSSA National Games.
