- JACC 143/10 in 45.5 overs (Paul Mulongo 44, Kenneth Waiswa 22)
- Wanderers 74/10 in 22.3 overs (Raheel Sarwal 13, Abdul Basit Habib 13)
- JACC won by 69 runs
Wanderers Cricket Club suffered their second defeat in the UCA Men’s National League Division One campaign, falling to a determined JACC side in a game dominated by the bowlers at Jinja Oval.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Wanderers’ decision seemed to pay immediate dividends.
Suleman Sharif, who has been pivotal with the new ball this season, ripped through JACC’s top order, removing Timothy Kawagunzi, Eddie Agaba and Richard Sohera in quick succession, leaving JACC wobbling at 22/3 within the powerplay.
But JACC’s middle order, led by a steady hand from Paul Mulongo (44) and important contributions from Kenneth Waiswa (22) and Aaron Kusasira (22), dug deep to steady the ship.
Despite the regular fall of wickets, JACC managed to reach 143 before being bowled out in the 46th over.
Wanderers’ bowling attack, especially Sharif (3/29) and Davis Karashani (2/44), had done their part to keep the chase modest.
However, what followed was a batting collapse Wanderers would want to forget. Chasing 144, they never quite got going.
Suleman Sharif and Perry Wazombe showed glimpses of resistance but wickets tumbled at an alarming rate.
Eddie Agaba and Richard Sohera, who shone with the ball for JACC, exploited the fragile Wanderers’ batting lineup, sharing seven wickets between them.
From 16/1 to an eventual all-out total of just 74 inside 23 overs, Wanderers’ innings was a story of missed opportunities and poor shot selection.
None of the batsmen managed to cross 15 runs, and the lower order crumbled without offering any real fight. JACC’s Richard Sohera was the standout, claiming 4 wickets for just 5 runs in a devastating spell.
It was a complete performance by JACC, securing a 69-run win and leaving Wanderers searching for answers after two games.
Elsewhere in Division One, Ceylon Lions thumped Aboojo by 106 runs and Rounders outclassed Avengers with a commanding 92-run victory, tightening the competition at the top of the table.
