St. Lawrence University players Baker Lukooya and Rica Byaruhanga have been suspended by the FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel for inducing a physical fight with Jinja Lions chairman Andrew Talenga.

Lukooya and Byaruhanga found guilty

The Sand Cranes duo will be out of action for three weeks for causing chaos which resulted in blows with Talenga during St. Lawrence’s game with the Lions on April 2 at the FUFA Technical Center, Njeru.

“The competitions disciplinary panel (CDP), to its satisfaction, found out that Lukooya and Byaruhanga violently conducted themselves before Talenga engaged in a fight with the duo,” partly reads a statement from the Uganda Beach Soccer Association.

“This brought the match to a standstill for a few minutes contrary to the rules and regulations of the competition put in place by FUFA,” it adds.

The FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel thereby quoted Article 31(2) of the FUFA competitions rules and regulations that assert;

What the law provides for

“A participant shall at all times act in the best interest of the game and shall not act in any manner which is improper or brings the game into disrepute or use any one, or a combination of violent conduct, serious foul play, threatening abusive, indecent or insulting words or behaviour.”

“Any participant in breach of this section shall be charged and, if found in breach, shall be liable for disciplinary actions of a suspension or a ban not exceeding fifteen competition matches or a specified period with or without a fine depending on the discretion of the CDP, TOC or appropriate judicial body.”

Currently St. Lawrence top the Uganda Beach Soccer League proceedings with 25 points, four ahead of runners-up Mutoola. Jinja Lions, meanwhile, sits third with 19 points.
