Makerere University Ladies FC (She Mak) fought back from two goals down to draw 2-2 against Kawempe Muslim LFC in a thrilling FUFA Women Super League game played on Wednesday.

The Valley warriors who came into the contest on the back of a 5-0 thrushing of Wakiso Hill started brightly and took the lead in the first half through Yudaya Nakayenze‘s 35th minute goal off a Samalie Nakachwa corner.

Kawempe started the second half even better, with the in-form Nakayenze doubling their lead in the 47th minute, leaving the visitors stunned.

However the Makerere based side did not give up and pulled a goal back late in the game, in the 83rd minute, to make the score 2-1 through Namatovu Sharon‘s well taken goal.

In the 89th minute, Daphine Nalubowa scored from a direct freekick to level matters at 2-2, sealing a vital point for Makerere Ladies, and putting an end to Kawempe’s winning streak after the restart.

She Mak who came into the midweek encounter after their disappointing 3-0 defeat at the hands of She Maroons from last weekend, will be happy with the result which moves them to 5th place with 7 points.

With the draw Kawempe Muslim with 14 points from 6 games open up a one point lead at the top the league over second placed Kampala Queens, having now played the same number of games.

In the next fixture, Kawempe will make the short trip to Kikaaya at the Kampala Quality Playground to face Asubo Ladies FC.
