Moments after their first win of the season, Mawokota Ssaza head coach Richard Malinga expressed confidence his side is in the right shape to clinch the 2023/24 Masaza Cup title.

That was after Mawokota’s 3-1 victory over defending champions Busiro on Saturday, in the opening game held at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

“I am very happy to have won the game which is memorable and historical, ” he said.

Despite conceding first after Akram Muzanyi put Busiro ahead through a penalty, Mawokota remained composed and turned things around.

They then netted through Kisolo John Innocent, Abubaker Mayanja, and Emayo Calvin Peter to get off to a flying start.

“Many things happened in the previous 3 seasons but this is a season of change with a new Mawokota to win it again.”

“We have won only one match but 9 games to go, so we have to get focused till we bring it back home,” he said.

They will be seeking a fourth Masaza Cup title having won it in 2005, 2007, and 2013.
