Former Uganda Cranes star Tony Mawejje has taken over head coach duties at St. Noa Girls football club from Jimmy Kintu on a two-year deal. The development, announced on Thursday, September 25, follows Kintu’s departure from the newly promoted Uganda Women’s Super League for Uganda Premier League newbies Calvary.

The shift rolled Mawejje into his first head coach duties, having worked as an assistant coach at two clubs. His last experience was with Wakiso Giants in the UPL under Steven Bengo.

In women’s football, his experience traces back to his short time at Kampala Queens, where he was assistant coach to Charles Ssenyange.

At St. Noa Girls, Mawejje is not only tasked with the tactical approach, but he will also have to steadily continue the spirit left by Kintu, who helped the team to win their first-ever top-flight promotion.

As the club coach, Mawejje will have to get off the mark in his duties in St. Noa Girls football club’s first Women’s Super League game while taking on Women’s Cup winner Amus College Girls on October 4.
