Rugby Cranes senior national 15 men’s head coach Fred Mudoola has named a temporary 35 man squad for the nearing Elgon Cup fixtures.
The July international engagements will have Uganda host the first leg to be held on 23rd July 2022 while Kenya will organise the return leg on 30th July 2022.
The Elgon Cup returns after a two-year hiatus caused by Covid-19 disruptions. Kenya won the previous edition held in 2019.
This will be Mudoola’s first Elgon Cup in charge as a coach having been in this duel as a player a couple of years ago.
The Elgon Cup is named after Mount Elgon, a mountain on the border of Kenya and Uganda, and is the trophy given to the winner of a rugby match contested between the Kenya and Uganda on an annual basis.
Played over two legs on a home and away basis and the winner on aggregate walks away with the prestigious trophy.
