Uganda Cranes left-back, Mustafa Kizza completed his move to Portuguese top flight side FC Arouca, in a marriage that will go on, at least for the next three years.
Since leaving American Major League Soccer side CF Montreal in 2021 after the expiry of his contract, Kizza has been club-less, but, his patience has landed him to one of Europe’s elite leagues.
According to UEFA National League ranking, it’s only the English Premier League, Spanish Laliga, Italian Serie A, German Bundesliga, and the French Ligue 1 that are stronger than the Portuguese Primeira Liga.
The former KCCA FC defender had attracted several suitors across the continent, but his preference was always a bigger stage.
Last season, Arouca narrowly survived relegation when they finished 15th on the 18-team Primeira Liga table with 31 points, two points above the red line.
Kizza becomes just the third Ugandan player to feature in the league, along with Alex Kakuba and Kizito Luwagga.
