Jamal Salim to play in South African top League

Goalkeeper Salim Jamal Magoola has completed a move to Premier Soccer League newbies, Richards Bay FC in South Africa for an undisclosed fee and period.

Jamal, along with Neil Boshoff, are the two goalkeepers the club unveiled on Friday as they hope to make a strong start to life in South Africa’s top-flight league.

Jamal’s last taste at football was in 2021 in the South African second-tier at Pretoria Callies FC, following the expiry of his contract with Sudanese outfit Al Hilal Omdurman.

Richards Bay gained its first ever promotion to the top-tier division after winning the 2021/22 National First Division.

He becomes the third Ugandan goalkeeper in the PSL the others are Denis Onyango of Mamelodi Sundowns and Ismail Watenga who spent last season on loan at Chippa United from Sundowns.

In Uganda, the shot-stopper played for both Express FC and KCCA before joining Sudanese outfit Al-Merrikh.
