Vipers SC have unveiled versatile defender, Nicholas Mwere as their third signing, adding another proven Uganda Premier League performer ahead of the new season.

The versatile defender signed a two year contract after his deal with BUL expired, becoming one of Vipers’ latest additions in Joel Sserunjogi and Jacques Mangoba as they prepare to defend their league title and compete in the CAF Champions League.

Mwere arrives at Kitende after three impressive seasons at BUL, where he established himself as one of the league’s most reliable defenders. Equally comfortable at left-back and centre back, he built a reputation for his calmness on the ball, solid defending and ability to start attacks from deep.

His consistency made him a key figure at BUL and attracted interest from several clubs before Vipers secured his signature under new head coach Denis Levagne.

The move marks another step in Mwere’s steady rise. He developed through the Jinja Progressive Academy (JIPRA) before featuring for Kakira Town Council and Busoga United, eventually earning a move to BUL, where his stock continued to grow.

His performances also earned him opportunities with the Uganda Cranes, including selection for the CHAN squad.

Mwere’s arrival adds quality, experience and versatility to a squad aiming to retain domestic dominance while making a stronger impression on the continental stage.
