Namibia taught Uganda another harsh lesson with an emphatic 173 run victory in their first 50 over loss of the series at the FNB Namibia Cricket Ground on Monday.
- Namibia 303/8 in 50 overs
- Uganda 130/10 in 30.2 overs
Namibia won by 173 runs
After choosing to bat, Namibia built a strong 303 for 8, then backed it up with a ruthless bowling display to bowl Uganda out for just 130 in 30.2 overs.
The hosts were steady early on before taking control in the middle overs. Captain Gerhard Erasmus changed the game with a blistering 88 off 47 balls, hitting seven sixes.
Jan Frylinck added a calm 44, while Dylan Leicher’s unbeaten 39 pushed Namibia past 300.
Uganda’s bowlers had brief moments, with Cosmas Kyewuta picking three wickets and Kenneth Waiswa two, but they struggled for consistency. Extras also hurt them, conceding 27 runs.
In reply, Uganda collapsed early and never recovered. Ruben Trumpelmann tore through the top order, taking four wickets and reducing Uganda to 15 for 3 inside three overs.
Riazat Ali Shah (15) and Anas Baig (25) tried to rebuild, but wickets kept falling. Kenneth Waiswa’s 20 came too slowly to ease the pressure, while Juma Miyaji’s quick 36 was the only real resistance.
Bernard Scholtz sealed the win with a tight spell of 3 for 11, keeping Uganda under control until the end.
It was a complete performance from Namibia and a tough reality check for Uganda, whose batting and discipline fell short.
Uganda will return to action on Wednesday, March 25, in their final game of the tour, hoping to respond with a better performance.
