Uganda’s basketball fraternity has received an early lift after the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) released the National Basketball League Round One fixtures for the 2026 season, setting up weeks of action across the country’s top arenas.

The schedule runs from early February to mid-March and presents a busy calendar for both the men’s and women’s divisions.

Traditional giants, emerging challengers and university teams will all chase early momentum in what promises to be a competitive start to the campaign.

The season tips off on February 6 at Lugogo Arena, long regarded as the home of Ugandan basketball.

Opening night offers a double-header, with JT Jaguars facing Pearl Queens in the women’s game before Namuwongo Blazers meet City Oilers in a men’s clash that already feels significant.

The Oilers, ten time champions and perennial contenders, are immediately tested by a Blazers side eager to make a statement.

Unlike previous seasons that leaned heavily on Kampala, the 2026 fixtures spread games across several venues.

YMCA Wandegeya, UCU Mukono, ABJA Park, Jaguars Den, Rezlife Entebbe and Kira Den all feature, giving fans beyond Lugogo regular access to top flight basketball.

The wider reach is expected to boost fan engagement while offering teams varied home-court advantages.

University sides such as UCU Canons, UCU Lady Canons, Victoria Crocs, UMU Flames and KIU Rangers will lean on campus support, while established clubs like KCCA Panthers, KCCA Leopards and Victoria Crocs look to grow their regional bases.

The women’s league appears especially competitive. High-profile matchups involving JKL Lady Dolphins, UCU Lady Canons, Miracle Eaglets, Angels and JT Lady Jaguars dominate the early rounds.

The Lady Dolphins, known for discipline and championship pedigree, will draw attention in meetings with the Lady Canons and Angels,  fixtures that could shape the early standings.

Midweek floodlit games at YMCA Wandegeya and Lugogo are also expected to attract strong crowds, underlining the steady rise of women’s basketball in Uganda.

In the men’s division, familiar rivalries headline the opening weeks. City Oilers, Namuwongo Blazers, UCU Canons and Sommet BC face tight schedules that leave little room for slow starts.

Repeated Oilers clashes with the Blazers and Blazers stand out among several potential statement games.
