KIU Titans overcame a sloppy start to beat last year’s finalists Nam Blazers 74-69 in the men’s National Basketball League at Wandegeya, on Friday.
The day’s victors went down 24-16 in the first quarter, but later recovered rather stoutly, as they opened a 40-30 halftime lead.
KIU Titans had Innocent Ochera to thank for, as he put up a decent game-high 19 points, to lead his side to victory.
Amisi Saidi and Edgar Munaaba then added 18 and 10 points, respectively, to supplement a dominant evening.
Meanwhile, a quintet of Nam Blazers players; Peter Cheng (15), Paul Odongo (14) Chris Omanye (14), Geoffrey Soro (13), and Micheal Makiadi (13) had double figures, but quite couldn’t turn them into a win.
It’s now seven victories for the in-form Titans, having overcome an early season defeat to champions, City Oilers, who are currently at the Basketball Africa League.
On the other hand, it’s the third defeat to Nam Blazers, who have also already suffered defeats to the City Oilers and UCU Canons.
