While the National Council of Sports and the Uganda Netball Federation continue to clash over accountability issues, the She Cranes, who are preparing for the Netball World Cup are feeling the pinch.
She Cranes head coach Fred Mugerwa, who was appearing before the Parliamentary Public Accounts Committee on Wednesday, expressed his grievances.
While he admits there’s rot surrounding the NCS and the UNF, he wants the two parties to sort things out, with the urgency it needs.
“There’s something between the federation and national council that must be solved.”
“As we are discussing accountability, for us coaches and players, we were never involved,” he added.
“It’s my humble request that the two sides can come to an understanding and reconcile and move forward. The more we fight, the more the players suffer,” he advised.
UNF President Sarah Babirye Kityo accused NCS Secretary General Patrick Benard Ogwel of misappropriation of netball funds, while the latter also accuses her for failure to account for funds.
Babirye Kityo is currently on forced leave to allow for smooth investigations with, Brigadier Flavia Byekwaso in her seat on the interim.
