National Council of Sports (NCS) Secretary General Patrick Benard Ogwel has been found guilty by the Inspectorate of Government (IGG) of mismanaging funds meant for the Uganda Netball Federation (UNF).

The embattled NCS honcho received UGX29,719,800 for a tournament in Namibia but wasn’t spent and not accounted for.

Ogwel was also found guilty of inflating 27 air tickets meant for the Namibia tournament, mounting up to UGX70,556,211, and, has as such been directed to refund monies amounting to over UGX100m.

Ogwel was however acquitted of any accusations regarding the mistreatment of the She Cranes.

“Other issues regarding governance, interim court order appointment of Board of Trustees, harassment of the She Cranes players were found to be false.”

In similar developments, ex-UNF Vice President Technical, Richard Muhumuza, and Treasurer Hajjat Nambusi Kibedi didn’t account for up to UGX. 30,000,000 meant for Men netball players at the Africa Netball Tournament.

“Mr. Richard Muhumuza the then Vice President Technical and Hajjat Nambusi Kibedi, the then treasurer of Uganda Netball Federation should collectively account for UGX. 30,000,000 which was not paid to the male netball players.”

The investigations were led by the Deputy Inspector of General Government, Patricia Achan Okiria, who also directed the ordered refunds to be effected within 7 and 30 days respectively of receipt of the report.
