With the Netball World Cup only 48 days away, Uganda is yet to release its final squad for the games to be held in Cape Town, South Africa.
A total of 20 She Cranes players are in a residential training camp in Lubowa, and each believes that they will make the cut.
Mid-court player, Sarah Nakiyunga is convinced that her time to represent her country is now.
Despite failing to make the final squad last year for the Commonwealth Games held in Birmingham England, Nakiyunga believes that she will travel to Cape Town.
“Last time I didn’t make it because the ankle injury disturbed me a lot, but I recovered,” the National Insurance Corporation wing attacker told Nnalubaale Sports.
“I played the league with no pain. So now I am working on my speed and defense,” She explained.
Nakiyunga’s game has been lacking the defensive part yet the Head Coach Ssalongo Mugerwa Fred prefers a player with both defense and attacking abilities.
“I have been working on my defence and I am seeing change, but I am still working on it more,” said Nakiyunga.
In mid-court, Mugerwa needs only four players on his final list, Nakiyunga is fighting for a slot with Margaret Baagala (Assistant Captain), Annet Najjuka, Lillian Achola, Joyce Nakibuule, and Norah Lunkuse.
Uganda was pitted in Group D with defending champions, New Zealand, Trinidad and Tobago, and Singapore.
