With Uganda still in its quest for a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup awaiting final qualifier games against Botswana and Algeria (both away) this month.
The global showpiece hit another milestone on Thursday with the unveiling of TRIONDA, the tournament’s official match ball.
Created by adidas, TRIONDA is inspired by the three co-hosts Canada, Mexico, and the United States. Its name, from the Spanish for “three waves,” reflects both unity and the flow of the game.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino called the ball “a beauty,” saying it symbolizes “the unity and passion” of the hosts. “I can’t wait to see this ball hitting the back of the net,” he added.
The design features bold red, green, and blue tones representing the host nations. Triangular panels form the ball’s core, while a maple leaf, eagle, and star represent Canada, Mexico, and the U.S. Gold accents nod to the World Cup trophy.
TRIONDA also brings advanced technology. Its aerodynamic surface and deep seams improve flight stability, while embossed icons help grip in humid conditions.
A 500Hz motion sensor sends real-time ball data to match officials, aiding decisions on key calls such as offsides.
The launch follows other milestones: the reveal of official mascots and FIFA’s pledge to donate $1 to the Global Citizen Education Fund for every ticket sold.
So far, over 4.5 million fans from 216 territories have registered interest through the Visa Presale Draw.
With qualification heating up and the final draw set for December 5, 2025, in Washington, D.C., anticipation for football’s biggest stage is only growing.
