The Ugandan crew of Oscar Ntambi and co-driver Uthman Mohammed, piloting a Mitsubishi Evo X, emerged as winners of the FIA African Rally Championship (ARC) Category 2.
The crew stuck to their initial strategy of simply seeking a finish at the world’s toughest gravel rally, the 2026 Safari Rally in Kenya. That disciplined approach paid off with a podium finish after days of pushing the vehicle beyond expectations.
Making his Safari Rally debut, Ntambi was hampered by a bent rear suspension that caused a broken driveshaft during the Kedong 1 stage.
However, the crew maneuvered through the stage to reach service, where the car was repaired, allowing them to complete their mission.
The team carries crucial points home from the Safari into the second round of the 2026 African Rally Championship, the Pearl of Africa Rally. That event is set to be held in Western Uganda from May 8th–10th, 2026.
