Centenary Bank are the 2022 Annual Bankers Sports Gala champions.
The financial institute leapfrogged DFCU and Stanbic Bank who finished in the second and third positions respectively.
With activities such as Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Darts, Netball, Volleyball, Pool Table, and soccer among others, bragging rights were on the line.
This saw banks turn to mercenaries and this was evident in netball as Housing Finance bank was kicked out of the competition following a petition from Stanbic bank.
The ugly scenes had Uganda Police intervene to calm down the situation as players, officials and fans of Housing Finance and Stanbic bank had refused to step off the court putting action on halt for a couple of minutes.
Away from the unfortunate incidents, legitimate skills were on display as bankers competed fiercely on a hot day at Lugogo and Kyambogo, fighting for points on the final day.
Organized by Uganda Bankers Association in conjunction with Bank of Uganda, the gala was a success throughout.
